Paul Ross

Profile

Paul was born and educated in the UK and has an extensive background across various industrial, commercial, and technology sectors on an international basis.

Having qualified in engineering, most of his professional career has been spent in executive management level positions operating on a global basis and being closely aligned to business, product and distribution development, marketing, commercial and general management.

He has over thirty years of international experience across a wide range of disciplines and has operated in a number of main board and senior roles in both private and multi-national companies.

Having joined Caterpillar (UK) Ltd in 2000, he held several positions within the business including that of a main board director for approximately ten years until 2009. Throughout this time, his global activities covered numerous sectors ranging from off-highway equipment to defence, rail, marine, power generation and remanufacturing. He also had legal responsibility for TO in excess of US$6bn.

Upon leaving Caterpillar, Paul held the position of Global Market Sector Director with Ricardo PLC, a leading engineering and strategic consulting company, to cover the strategy and leadership of the global off-highway and commercial vehicle markets. This company is a world leading provider of technology, product innovation, engineering solutions and strategic consulting to the world’s industrial, automotive, transport and energy sectors.

More recently Paul has worked with City Financial Institutions and has successfully engaged with them on the delivery of private and corporate business acquisitions in the industrial and service sectors. This engagement continues to date along with a portfolio of other industry-facing positions. Currently his activities include several Board positions and a Chairmanship within the technology, alternate fuels, and engineering/manufacturing sectors.

Paul is a past President, Board member and current Chairman of the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) and has been actively involved in their activities over the past three decades. The CEA represents exports of over £13bn and employment of over 50,000 employees and interfaces with both the European and US sectors (CECE and AEM)

Paul also held a Main Board position on the former UKTI Advanced Engineering Sector Advisory Board covering advanced manufacturing and technologies across Aerospace, Automotive and other industrial sectors. He was also a UKTI Catalyst member promoting UK business and exports overseas and inward investment to UK.
Throughout his career to date Paul has engaged with most sector associations on various industry supporting activities and is well versed on the workings of private and public sector, government, and media.

In addition to his business interests, Paul is chair of Governors at a leading Grammar school and has sat on the Board of Governors for over ten years. The school has recently increased its enrollment to approximately 1,200 pupils and notably has Sir Isaac Newton as one of its former scholars.
